RE:  Kat Nichols announced at Pitt State Women's Soccer Assistant Coach!

VHSC is excited to announce that another one of our coaches is moving on to the collegiate ranks - Coach Kat Nichols will be the new Assistant Coach at Pitt State in Pittsburg, Kansas, starting in May.

Pitt State is a new DII program, and we know Coach Kat will help them build something special. She has made a big difference in the development of so many players in her eight years with the club, and we thank her for her service!

Coach Kat Nichols is in action!

Kat Nichols joins a long list of former VHSC coaches who have gone on to do great things at the next level. The most prominent are Keidine McAlpine and Jason Lockhart, who won a national championship at USC and are now the current Women's Head and Assistant Coaches at the University of Georgia. More recently, Jarred Brookins is in the 2023 NCAA Final Four this weekend as a Men's Assistant Coach at Oregon, and Pat Flinn just finished his second season as Drake's (NCAA DI program in Iowa) Men's Head Coach.  Most recently, Corey Smith became the Head Women's Coach at Birmingham Southern, with Coach Lettie Lundy as the assistant women's Coach at BSC.  All coaches had long stints at VHSC.

The good news is that Coach Kat will be around this spring and that the club has promoted Carlo Schiavoni from Boys Director of Coaching to Director of Coaching, starting May 1st. Kat and Carlo will use the spring to pass the torch successfully.
Carlo is a former stand-out player at UAB and has been the Boys DOC at Vestavia for the past seven years. In Carlo's nine years with the club, he has proven to be a true soccer professional. His attention to detail and long-range planning will ensure that the girl's program builds on the good works Kat has accomplished.
Congrats to them both!
