Two youth soccer clubs have partnered to form Hoover-Vestavia Soccer (HVS). Current youth soccer powers Vestavia Hills Soccer Club (VHSC) and Hoover Soccer Club (HSC) have joined forces to form this partnership beginning Fall 2020. HVS will field teams in age groups 2009 through 2003, Boys and Girls. This exciting new strategic alliance will allow elite players in the Birmingham area to develop to their fullest potential.
There will be no change to either club’s Recreational or Academy Programs, and both clubs will still field teams in the Alabama Soccer Association State League. However, under the Hoover- Vestavia Soccer umbrella, elite players from both clubs will now have an avenue to play together at a higher level. Other benefits include a larger pool of top-level coaching, recreational program synergy, and greater exposure to collegiate opportunities.
Leading this initiative is former UAB Men’s Head Soccer Coach Mike Getman, who will serve as Hoover-Vestavia Soccer’s Director of Coaching. Coach Getman brings with him over twenty years of collegiate experience, and has placed over fifty players in the professional ranks.
With the partnership, Hoover-Vestavia Soccer will boast access to ten full sized turf fields and sixteen grass fields available to their almost 5,000-member player base. The clubs will also be able to share staff, curriculum, and other resources.
Hoover-Vestavia Soccer tryouts and teams will be open to players from all clubs. Training and game schedules will be coordinated to minimize conflicts, and allow for the best soccer environment possible.
HVS is planning Informational Meetings and Talent ID days at the SHAC and at the Hoover Met, which will be scheduled (if possible) based on guidelines provided by the applicable health authorities. More information on the ID dates, staffing, and League play will be released in the next few weeks. hoovervestaviasoccer.com is your source for all up-to-date information.
Hoover-Vestavia tryouts are set for this spring/summer, for the 2020-21 season. You can register for tryouts NOW. All interested players must register on-line, there is no charge. Individual club tryouts (VHSC and HSC) will be held after HVS tryouts.
“Our vision is to create an opportunity for elite players to compete in an elite league without having to leave their hometown. This will allow the Birmingham youth soccer community to participate in a more professionalized model, led by staff committed to holistically developing players.”
Hoover Soccer Club Executive Director Tomas Fox
“It’s exciting to work together to build something special- something better than what you could accomplish alone. This consolidation at the top level is a national trend in youth soccer, and comes at a time when we all need to work together, more than ever.”
Vestavia Hills Soccer Club Executive Director Rocky Harmon

RE: COVID-19 UPDATES FOR ALL VESTAVIA HILLS SOCCER CLUB MEMBERS
NOTE: ALL PRACTICES, GAMES, TOURNAMENTS, AND CAMPS SUSPENDED
Dear Vestavia Hills Soccer Club Members,
Unfortunately, all soccer events including training, games, tournaments, and camps are suspended indefinitely. We are disappointed about the cancelation because for the players, coaches, and staff our training, games, tournaments, and camps are a highlight for us.
However, our organisation plays a role in public health and protecting our members. It is critical to keep the welfare and safety of our members and general public at the forefront of our decisions.
Please make sure to keep up to date on developments regarding Public Health via the CDC and WHO websites and other media outlets:
- WHO International COVID-19 Updates: https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/events-as-they-happen
- CDC COVID-19 Updates: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html
- Also, please make sure to read the letter from Alabama Soccer Association below.
We will publish updates as they are made for Vestavia Hills Soccer Club and its members. Thank you for understanding and be safe.
Dear Alabama Soccer Association Members:
As the situation regarding COVID-19 increases, Alabama Soccer and our Board of Directors have been monitoring with help from the Center For Disease Control (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), United States Youth Soccer Association (USYS) and United States Soccer Federation (USSF). Our organisation is concerned about the health and safety of our members, as well as those in our community, as we make decisions about upcoming spring soccer activity.
- On March 12th, US Youth Soccer suspended all National League and Conference play matches that required significant car travel and/or air travel.
- On March 12th, United States Soccer Federation suspended all play within their programs through April 30th.
ASA and our Board of Directors have met to discuss the situation as it continues to develop.
- At this time we will be suspending all play (ASL, Tournaments, Practice, Games) in Alabama associated with ASA through March 29, 2020.
Our staff will continue to be available to you during this time. ASA and our staff will continue to evaluate the situation on a regular basis and keep you informed.
The key is to do what we can to prevent the spread of this virus. As an individual, take basic precautions such as washing your hands frequently. We will keep you updated and post all updates on social media and our website as the environment changes.
Alabama Soccer Association
After two games on Saturday, they beat Busa in the semifinal 2-0 and advanced to the finals for a rematch with Bayside Dynamo, their only loss in the first round. It was a hard fought game to a 1-1 tie with Steamers winning the PK shootout to secure the gold. Proud of these boys for a hard fought and much deserved victory!
VHSC Attack 08 Black went 3-0 to win the Vestavia International Tournament.
The VIT allowed the girls their first experience with 11v11 soccer. They did a fantastic job adjusting the field size and number of players to accomplish a 3 game shutout. This is the 3rd tourney Attack 08 Black has won this season!
Team led by coach Ike Udeh.
Hi all Competitive and Academy Players and Families!
We are excited about the launch of our new website and new Vestavia Soccer App (downloadable on the APP store for Apple and Android)! As we move forward all Academy and Competitive Players will need to register in the new system! There is no charge associated with the registration.
We need all players and families to register in the next couple weeks!
The app will work similar to Teamsnap and will be the main hub for communication for Teams and Club.
Thank you for your time and patience as we introduce this NEW and AWESOME system and App!
- The first parent will create and account.
- The first parent can add the other parent in their dashboard which will give the second parent their own log in information while still being tied to their player.
- If a parent adds the additional parent in their dashboard, a separate account is created for that additional parent.
- They will receive an email with separate log in credentials, AND be tied to the player.
- If parents/guardians need separate logins completely (i.e. in divorced families), each parent will register for their own account.
- Then the parent/guardian will need to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with the player name and we will merge the accounts making sure both parent/guardians will have their own access and logins (independent of one another).
