Steamers 06 Black are Liberty Cup Finalists!

Steamers 06 Black advanced to this past weekend’s Liberty Cup finals.  With the finals ending in a 0-0 tie, the game went straight to penalty kicks, and the Steamers came up just a little bit short.
The Steamers made it to the championship game by defeating ’06 Tennessee Soccer Club Murfreesboro 2-1 and defeating ’06 Hoover Phantoms 4-1.  The team has started the fall season 4-1 (with the only loss in PKs).
Way to go Steamers!

Steamers 08 Black are Liberty Cup Finalists!

Steamers 08 Black started the weekend off strong with a 2-1 comeback win late in the game against Madison Blaze. Second game came out with a convincing 4-0 win against Kings Hammer out of Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

The semi-final had another strong showing 2-0 win against Madison Blaze. The Finals were a great game with back-to-back goals in the final minutes 1-1 into PK’s, all the way to the 8th man, where 2008 came up a little short but a great weekend overall.

Way to go Steamers!

COVID-19 Reporting Updates

RE:  CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT - A CHANGE IN COVID REPORTING

Although variants of the virus that causes COVID-19 continue to circulate, we know much more about the virus and the disease it causes.  Importantly, we now have widely available vaccines and treatments for COVID-19.  Given the availability of this knowledge, along with several prevention and treatment options, we feel comfortable ending our active monitoring of COVID-19 within the club and terminating the COVID-19 portal.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding over the past 2 years as we all navigated changes due to COVID-19.  As a club, we have worked hard to be responsible citizens and do our part in the community to reduce the transmission of COVID-19 while also allowing our players to continue to play.

Importantly, viruses causing COVID-19 along with several other respiratory viruses are highly transmissible and currently circulating. Their presence will likely continue to increase as we go through the fall season. So, as we enter a new playing season, we ask that you review the policies below to ensure we are all doing our part to keep our players healthy and our teams playing.

DIRECTIONS FOR FAMILIES

Monitor your child for symptoms. Do NOT bring a player to practice that has ANY symptoms of illness (even if you think it is just allergies).  Coaches will understand.  Being cautious about your child’s health is the best course of action for every team.

  1. If your player tests positive for COVID-19:
    • Notify your coach.
    • Do not participate in club events (games, practices, etc.) for 5 days from the onset of symptoms.
    • Your player may return on day 6 if he or she is symptom-free.
  2. Please tell your child to NOT share water bottles. Sharing of water bottles can quickly spread illness to several players on a team.

DIRECTIONS FOR COACHES

  1. Remind your players to not come to practice if they have any symptoms of illness. Reassure players they will not be punished for missing practice/games to encourage responsible behaviours.
  2. Note: we are shutting down the portal, so there is no more reporting to the club.
  3. Players reporting symptoms should stay home until they are symptom-free.
  4. Players that report testing positive for COVID-19 must refrain from club activities for 5 days from onset of symptoms. They may return on day 6 IF they are symptom-free.
  5. Tell players that sharing of water bottles is NOT allowed. This is just best practice to limit the spread of any disease.

Steamers 09 Black are State Champions!

Congratulations to our Boys 2009 Steamers Black on becoming State Champions!

We are thrilled for theses boys and their hard work this season!

Their first matchup of state cup was against Alabama Rush. Which started off with an excited 2-2 tie in regulation time. Goals scored by Colt Stabler and Adrian Jurado helped keep the team in the game. After two 5 minute over times, neither team had put away the final goal to end the game.

This led to a competitive penalty shootout. Saves from Mckeand Jones ensured that the Steamers stayed in the penalty shootout. After 5 pks were taken, there was still a stalemate. Leading to a sudden death pk. The 6th and final pk was scored by Griffin Williams sending thge boys to their first State Championships!

The State Finals match saw the 2009s match up with FC Birmingham. Both sides played a very competitive match with lots of goal scoring opportunities for both teams. Goals from Colt Stabler and Anthony Mata made sure to secure the championship for the Steamers with a 2-0 win!

The Club is thrilled to see how far these players have come from their early ages in the academy to now State Champions!!!!

Go Steamers!
