Former Steamer is ACC Champion and Advances to College Cup Semi-Final!

Syracuse men's soccer captured its first ACC Tournament Championship since 2015 with a dominant 2-0 victory over Clemson at WakeMed Soccer Park. The Orange bring home the second ACC Championship under head coach Ian McIntyre.

Since their ACC Tournament Championship, the Syracuse Orangemen have beaten Penn, Cornell, and Vermont to advance to the NCAA College Cup Semi-Final match versus Creighton on December 9!

No. 3 seed Syracuse men's soccer will take on Creighton at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, in the 2022 NCAA College Cup Semifinal. The Orange and Bluejays meet on the soccer pitch for the first time at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C., with a spot in the National Championship on the line. The match will be live on ESPNU. No. 13 seed Indiana faceoffs against Pittsburgh in the other semifinal showdown at the College Cup.

Syracuse looks to make history against Creighton. A win would secure the Orange's first-ever national championship appearance and the 18th win of the season, which would break the program's single-season win record.

Good luck to Tony and his Syracuse teammates in pursuing the National Title!

Steamers 14 Black LP are Hoover Invitational Tournament Finalists!

Steamers 14 Black LP did great playing up an age group in the Hoover Invitational Tournament this past weekend! They made it to the Final losing to a well-drilled Cottontown United team.  The boys demonstrated tremendous team spirit, tenacious defending, and scored some great goals.  They’ve come a long way since August and should be proud of their efforts.

Way to go Steamers!

Vestavia 13G Red Stars are Alabama Soccer Showdown Finalists!

Congratulations to the Vestavia 13G Red Stars on their performance at the Alabama Soccer Showdown! The Red Stars played tough competition and finished as Finalists in this year’s Showdown tournament! Way to go Red Stars!

Attack 14 Black CEN are Alabama Soccer Showdown Finalists!

Attack 14 Black CEN Advanced to the finals in the Alabama Soccer Showdown!
The girls had an excellent showing in their first tournament ever, defeating Gardendale 2-1 and Homewood 4-0 to advance to the Semi Finals. The semi’s was a rematch with Gardendale and the girls came out strong winning 3-1 to advance to their first tournament finals!
The finals was an exciting game verse Springville. The girls came back from 3-1 down to tie it up 4-4 by the end of regulation. The girls showed a lot of fight, displayed incredible teamwork, and had some beautiful combination passing. They came up short in pk’s though and took home 2nd. A great showing in their first academy season!

Attack 13 Black are Hoover Invitational Tournament Champions!

Congratulations to Attack 13 Black for bringing home the hardware at the 2022 Hoover Invitational Tournament!

The Attack displayed excellent positivity, skill, and teamwork throughout the weekend, winning the final and finishing 1st in the tournament!

First, the Attack opened the tournament on a frigid Friday night against Trussville 13G White!  The girls dug deep and played great build-up/passing soccer to start the tournament.  The 1st goal on Friday night began with build-up play from the goalkeeper, connecting passes and breaking lines to end with a dazzling Garrincha to finish with conviction.  The Attack finished by scoring 3 more goals in the second half, winning the game 4-1.

Next, the Attack took on AFC Alabaster.  Through solid defending and continued teamwork, the Attack won 2-0 over Alabaster.  The win placed the Attack 13 Black into the Semi-Final against a sister Vestavia 13G Red Stars team.

In the Semi-Final on Sunday AM, the Attack faced their friends in a very tight game.  The team defended like champs to set up the game winning goal.  The late goal came through by great defending and passing to put the Attack through to the Final that afternoon!

The final pitted the Attack 13 Black versus the undefeated Hoover 13 Lady Phantoms Blue team.  The game was an excellent final with both teams having chances early on.  A near miss late in the game by the Hoover Lady Phantoms was followed up by a barrage of shots and shot off the post for the Attack!  Fittingly, the game could not be settled in regulation play and had to go to kicks from the mark.

Each team had 3 kicks... Hoover shot first - saved by the Attack GK!  Attack shoots - saved by the Hoover GK!  The 2nd shooter for Hoover stepped up... shot... goal for the Hoover team, now up 1-0!  Next, the Attack's 2nd shooter stepped up and calmly placed her penalty kick into the corner of the goal!  1-1 and onto the 3rd shooter!

The 3rd shooter stepped up for the shot... shot - SAVE BY THE ATTACK GK!  To the win the game, the 3rd shooter stepped up for the Attack!  BOOM!  GOLAZO!  The Attack win 2-1 on penalty kicks to win the Championship!

Congratulations to the Attack 13 Black... 2022 U10 Girls Hoover Invitational Tournament Champions!

Steamers 10 Black are Hoover Invitational Tournament Champions!

Congratulations to the Steamers 2010 Black team and Coach Rusty Cowley on winning the U13 Hoover Invitational Tournament!  They defeated the Hoover Phantoms in the first game with a dominant 2-0 win. The second game was a hard-fought back-and-forth contest against a good Memphis IFC team. Zac Parks scored the first goal, but Memphis tied it up just before halftime. Parks scored another goal in the second half, but the Memphis team answered with their own goal. After a gritty effort from the Steamers, they ended with a draw at 2-2.  The Steamers faced Trussville Fire in the final and jumped out to an early lead with a goal from midfielder Zachary Phillips from just outside the 18, and quickly followed up with another goal from Zac Parks. Trussville was able to pull one goal back in the second half, but much credit goes to keeper Nolan Blackenburg and the defensive line for keeping their lead.  Congratulations on a great end to the season!  GO STEAMERS!

Steamers 06 Black are Alabama State Champions!

What a spectacular season for the 06 Steamers Black!

Under the leadership of coach Robert Starr, the team went undefeated in regular season play scoring 36 goals and allowing only 4. They played the first match for the State Cup in dismal weather with constant rain and a cold wind. While dominating most of the game, Mickey Crowe and Jake Gould scored goals for a strong finish sending them on to the championship.

The championship game was an arduous back-and-forth struggle against an excellent team who tried to overpower the Steamers with physical play. Mikey Crowe and Logan Hawley scored goals, and the first half ended in a 2-2 tie. Mickey scored another goal in the second half. With less than a minute left, the score was tied 3-3. With everyone on the sidelines mentally preparing for overtime, Mercer Ellis came out of nowhere with a rocket of a shot! Mercer scored the winning goal from the 30 in the final seconds to win the championship! Congratulations to all the boys and coach Starr who worked hard all season and dug deep in their last game for a last-second win!

Go Steamers!
