Jason Woodall Wins Ken Headley ‘Commitment to the Game’ Award from ASA!

Congratulations to our own Jason "Woody" Woodall, who was recently awarded the Ken Headley Good of the Game Award from the Alabama Soccer Association.
Ken was a long-time coach of the Vestavia Hills Soccer Club, as well as an area high school and college coach, and referee. Ken passed away in January 2019, and the "Good of the Game" award was created in his honor just last year.  Jason is the second recipient of this award.
Jason "Woody" Woodall has been coaching youth soccer for over thirty years, the last twenty in Birmingham. He has served as a Technical Director, Tournament Director, and is currently VHSC's Academy Director and General Manager. VHSC is proud to have Woody on its team! Jason Woodall is a Georgia native, where he grew up playing his youth soccer in Stone Mountain.  He played his Club soccer for the Brookwood Steamers / JD Dempsey's and attended Clarkston High School.  After High School, Jason attended Presbyterian College in South Carolina and was a 4-year starter and Captain.

After College, Jason went on to play professional soccer for the Charleston Battery, Columbia Patriots, Greenville Shamrocks, and the Atlanta Ruckus.  Jason has been coaching youth soccer since 1990.  He has spent over 20 years coaching summer camps at Ralph Lundy Soccer Academy and Mount Berry Soccer Academy.

In addition to Coaching College Soccer at Ga. State University and various High Schools throughout the years...  He has also coached youth soccer teams of all ages and worked as a DOC, Academy Director, Director of Player Development, administrator, website designer, graphic artist, and General Manager.  Jason holds a USSF B, National Youth License, ISPAS Level 1 & 2 Video Analysis Certifications, and is a Registered Nurse (RN) in Alabama.

HVS announces all Boys 2nd teams will play in the National Premier League!

Hoover-Vestavia Soccer (HVS) is excited to announce that all Boys 2nd teams of the club will now play in the National Premier League - South Atlantic.  In addition we will add three more age groups to our list of 2nd teams for 2021.  HVS will now have boys 2nd teams in the U19, U17, U16, U15, U14, and U13 age groups.

Hoover-Vestavia Soccer is dedicated to the development of top-class players in the state of Alabama.  We are proud of the many professional and national team players that have come through our programs.  Chris Richards, Brandon Servania, along with JJ Williams are just a few of the current pros from our area that grew up in our clubs.  We combine great players with great coaches, to create a training environment that allows our players to reach for the stars.

The NPL - South Atlantic Division includes:

With our 1st teams moving into MLS NEXT, moving our 2nd teams to the NPL was a logical progression. Providing more opportunity for players to compete at the regional and national level is what we want for our club. HVS players who play on our NPL teams may also have opportunities to train and play with our MLS NEXT teams.

HVS ID Dates are April 3 & May 9

Join us for our HVS ID Dates for MLS NEXT and DPL in April and May!  Players can get a jump on the competition before tryouts and attend our ID Dates.  ID Dates are a great way to be seen by our Professional staff prior to the actual tryout days of May 15-16.  Players are encouraged to attend all sessions.  All players should sign up online prior to the event.

HVS Staffing and League Announced!

Hoover-Vestavia Soccer (HVS) has announced its participation in the National Premier League (NPL) South Atlantic division.  Director of Coaching, Mike Getman stated, “Hoover-Vestavia Soccer is excited to be a part of the National Premier League.  From day one we have wanted to create a better platform to enhance player development through a consistent playing environment and the highest level of competition.  Playing in the NPL will provide a tremendous opportunity for our players to challenge and showcase themselves on a regular basis against other elite clubs at the Regional and National level.”
